Legend of the White Snake

Bai Suzhen (White Snake) is a thousand-year-old snake spirit who transforms into a beautiful woman and falls in love with a mortal man, Xu Xian. Their love is opposed by the Buddhist monk Fahai, who believes spirits should not interact with humans. The story explores the conflict between love and duty, human and spirit worlds, and the boundaries of compassion.
