Chang'e and the Moon

嫦娥奔月

The archer Hou Yi shot down nine of ten suns that were scorching the earth, saving humanity. For his deed, he received an elixir of immortality. His wife Chang'e drank it to prevent it from falling into evil hands and floated to the moon. She remains there to this day, and the Mid-Autumn Festival celebrates her story with mooncakes and moon-gazing.
